Wildlife Artist

Tell me a little about yourself and your art?
I'm predominantly a Wildlife Artist, but occasionally I do other forms. My preferred mediums are Acrylic and Oils. Painting since I was a young child, but only became professional, as a full time living in the last 7 years, before that I was an Art teacher and before that a designer. I have always loved Wildlife, Countryside and Old buildings. Buildings is something I've more recently worked on and plan to do more, but always making a tie to Wildlife. I work from my own photography, there's something very satisfying about knowing that the journey of my paintings are from the animals and landscape itself, up to the finished painting.

How did you first get into your chosen art?
Always had a love for Wildlife even as a child.

Where do you feel the inspiration to create your art comes from?
I've always just loved to paint, above everything else.

The last year has been especially challenging for so many of us. How have you managed, both personally and creatively?
Continued to work and sell as best I can, focused on my Online profile and planning towards getting back to the fairs. Planned new ideas and worked on how to go forward.

Has the pandemic or lockdown had any influence on your work, either positively or negatively?
No, but the finny thing is My Out of Place in Ludlow series looks like it could of been, but I started that a few years ago, based on a story the locals told me.

What plans do you have for your art going forward?
Regular fairs from May to December. Did them before and I think they will be better now. Trade shows and next year Art exhibitions.

What practical advice would you give someone wanting to to take up your form of art professionally?
Do what your heart tells you. It's not easy being an artist, you have to really want it.
